Falmouth University - MA in Fine Art (Online) Application

Portfolio Statement

My portfolio showcases a variety of my work from dance, to paintings shown at group exhibitions, to more experimental collaborations, as referenced in my personal statement.

I hope to give a strong overview of the diversity of my work and journey thus far. This portfolio is a demonstration of the skills I have developed up until now, that I hope to consolidate into a more cohesive practice throughout the Fine Art MA Online at Falmouth University.

I have briefly detailed on each slide what the individual pieces are either inspired by or referencing, but I hope to improve my vocabulary to better articulate the motives behind my work as I continue to grow as an artist on the Fine Art MA.

My dance showreel showcases professional achievements over my performance career so far, whereas ‘The Holiday’ explores a more collaborative, improvised project. I hope these two examples convey the range of work just within this one artistic discipline, from choreography rehearsed over weeks, to impulsive free flowing movement exploring space, created to nothing but the sound of the ocean at 5am.

Alternatively, artworks Sri Lanka and Eden are examples of a time where I successfully explored colour, movement and composition with a more commercial focus. Something I discovered half instinctively, and half through the experience of working as an assistant to Sophie Tea and Allan Storer in London.
